Finland, Sweden and Norway issue war alert, urge citizens to avoid Russian attack

 

Helsinki. Three Nordic countries have issued war warnings as tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalate. Norway, Finland and Denmark have instructed their citizens to stock up on essential goods and prepare their soldiers for war.

These countries share borders with Russia and Ukraine. These countries could be affected if a nuclear attack were to occur in Ukraine. Therefore, Norway has distributed leaflets warning of war to its citizens.

Sweden has also sent leaflets to more than 5.2 million of its citizens. It has instructed them to keep iodine tablets, which are used to protect against radiation during a nuclear war. Amid the tension, the US closed its embassy in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Wednesday. In addition, Italy, Greece and Spain have also decided to close their Kiev embassies for a day.

Embassy staff urged to move to safer places

The US embassy has urged its employees to move to safer places. Along with this, American travelers living in Ukraine have also been advised to exercise caution and be ready to move to a safe place in case of any danger. The Biden administration authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles in Russia three days ago. Tensions between the two countries have increased since then.

Instructions to maintain power backup in case of power outages

Finland shares more than 1,340 kilometers of border with Russia. The Finnish government has launched a new website to help the general public in times of war. Finland has urged its citizens to keep a backup power source in case of power outages caused by war. People have also been urged to stock up on ready-to-eat meals that can be cooked on low energy.
