Kathmandu : The first session of the newly elected House of Representatives is beginning today. The HoR comes into being following the elections held on March 5.
A meeting of the House of Representatives has been called for 2:00 pm today in the multipurpose room of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building in Singha Darbar.

President Ramchandra Paudel had called a session of both houses of the Federal Parliament for today, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
Spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Ekram Giri said that all preparations, including physical, security, technical and human resources, have been completed for the conduct of the parliament session. The meeting of the upper house (National Assembly) under the Federal Parliament will be held in the National Assembly room at the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The 275-member House of Representatives has 182 members from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party, 38 from the main opposition Nepali Congress, 25 from the CPN (UML), 17 from the Nepali Communist Party, seven from the Shram Sankriti Party, five from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent MP.

As per the agenda for today, three ordinances are being presented in the House of Representatives. Accordingly, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung will table the ‘Voters’ List (First Amendment) Ordinance 2082′, ‘Election of Members of the House of Representatives (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082’, and ‘Nepal Special Service (Second Amendment) Ordinance 2082’.

The meeting will be chaired by the eldest member of the HoR, Arjun Narsingh KC. The date of election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the HoR will also be announced and agreed upon at the meeting today.
