Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal in her keynote speech said that feminism is not a new concept in Nepal and that this movement has led to Nepal’s social, cultural and economic growth. She also stated facts that show it’s impact in the composition of govt bodies in Nepal.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs possesses 25% female officials, a visible rise in a short period of time, while there are 10% Female troops in Nepal’s UN Peacekeeping Force and Nepal is also top female troop contributing country. Despite our Constitution assuring women rights as fundamental rights and taking affirmative actions to ensure the representation of women in the parliament, there is a long way to go in Nepal, in order to reach the gender parity that everyone is talking about.
