French President Emmanuel Macron reaches Dhaka for bilateral tour to Bangladesh

French President Emmanuel Macron reached Dhaka last night at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on a bilateral tour to Bangladesh after attending the G-20 Summit in New Delhi. This is the first visit from a French president to Bangladesh in 33 years. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who returned from New Delhi yesterday afternoon, received the French President at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

Bangladesh Prime Minister hosted a banquet in honor of the visiting President at Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka. On the occasion, Mrs. Hasina express her confidence that France-Bangladesh bilateral relations can move to strategic engagements for the shared prosperity for all in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. Prime Minister Hasina said France-Bangladesh are opening up new areas of cooperation in strategic assets and advanced technologies.

Today President Macron first will pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhaka. And later on the day, he is scheduled to hold a Bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also sign bilateral agreements and hold a joint press conference. According to media reports, Macron is scheduled to visit popular music artist Rahul Ananda’s studio in Dhaka.
