Kathmandu. After the arrest of Kailash Sirohia, the president of Kantipur Media Group, the American Embassy in Nepal has released its views. The embassy has publicized the idea that good governance, freedom of the press and the fundamental rights of the people should be ensured.
On Wednesday, posting a message on social media, the Nepali Government and the Nepalese people expect a meaningful dialogue about ensuring good governance, press freedom and fundamental rights of the people. However, the name of Sirohia is not mentioned anywhere by the ambassador.
Press freedom, accountability and transparency are the guiding principles for America as it continues its efforts to become a more perfect country. As Nepal continues to shape the democracy achieved after a difficult struggle, we hope that the government of Nepal and the people of Nepal will have a meaningful dialogue about ensuring good governance, freedom of the press and fundamental rights of the people,” said the message.
