Government declared a public holiday across the country on the occasion of ‘People’s War’ anniversary on February 13

Kathmandu: The government has declared a public holiday across the country on the occasion of ‘People’s War’ anniversary on Monday (February 13).A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday decided to give a public holiday across the country on Monday.

The cabinet decided to give a public holiday across the country to mark the day the then CPN-Maoist started the People’s War. Earlier, the government of Karnali and Bagmati provinces had decided to celebrate the People’s War Day and give a holiday tomorrow. From Falgun 1, 2052 BS, the then CPN (Maoist) started the “People’s War”.

The war came to an end with the signing of 12 point peace accord between the Maoist and the then Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala on November 22, 2006.
