Kathmandu. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has changed the venue of the Women’s World Cup. Earlier, the tournament was decided to be held in Bangladesh, but it was shifted to UAE citing insecurity.
The ICC was preparing to host the ninth edition of the World Cup in Bangladesh in October. However, although the host will be the Cricket Board of Bangladesh, the venue of the tournament will be the UAE. UAE Cricket Board will manage the tournament on behalf of Bangladesh. The tournament to be held from October 3 to 20 will be held in Dubai and Sharjah International Stadium. Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka also submitted bids for hosting the women’s world-class tournament. However, ICC chief executive Goof Alicardic has released information that the tournament will be held in 2026 in both countries.
The 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup was also held in the UAE and Oman after the tournament could not be held in Australia and India due to Covid. The ICC has informed that UAE is the right choice to host the tournament due to its world-class facilities.
