Kathmandu : India has welcomed the successful completion of Nepal’s House of Representatives elections and praised Nepali citizens for exercising their democratic rights.

In a statement, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, expressed happiness over the polls being held with enthusiastic participation from voters.

“India has always supported peace, progress and stability in Nepal and has extended necessary assistance,” Jaiswal said.

He added that New Delhi looks forward to working with the new government to further strengthen the close and longstanding ties between the two countries.
