Kathmandu :  The high-level inquiry commission formed to investigate the incidents that occurred during the Genji Movement on September 8 and 9 (Bhadra 23–24) has summoned former prime minister KP Sharma Oli to provide his statement.

Commission member Binyan Raj Sharma said the panel has issued a formal letter to Oli, asking him to appear before the commission. The letter was personally delivered to Oli at his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur.

Oli has been asked to present himself before the commission within seven days to record his testimony. Earlier, the then home minister appeared before the commission on Monday and provided his statement.

Despite this, Oli has publicly stated that he does not intend to appear before the commission to give his statement.
