International Conference on Human Rights to be held in Nepal

Kathmandu. The National Human Rights Commission Nepal is going to organize an ‘International Conference on Gender Inclusion in National Human Rights Institutions’.
Lili Thapa, a member of the National Human Rights Commission, informed that the conference will be held in Kathmandu from August 18 to 20 in coordination with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Organizations while organizing a press conference on Tuesday.

He said, ‘The National Human Rights Commission is holding a conference on gender inclusion in cooperation with human rights organizations in Asia Pacific countries. In Nepal, it will run from 18th to 20th of August. It is going to be a conference together with the same organization called Asia Pacific Forum.

She also informed that so far the national human rights organizations of India, Fiji, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand, and Timor Leste have pledged their participation.

It is expected that the government of Nepal, national human rights organizations of 26 countries affiliated to the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Organizations, the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Organizations, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations Development Program Nepal and others will participate in the conference.

He reviewed the Paris Principles from a gender perspective and reviewed how national human rights institutions can strengthen the principle of pluralism through gender inclusion, reviewed the progress made by national human rights institutions in the implementation of the Amman Declaration-2012, identified factors that promote gender equality and inclusion. It was also informed that the purpose of the conference was to identify and suggest solutions to the obstacles in the internal and external work of national human rights organizations and to promote inter-human rights organization dialogue among national human rights organizations to actively work for the effects of climate change and gender justice.
