Mamata Sharma, founding president of the Madhesh Province unit of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), formally joined the Nepali Congress (NC) on Wednesday.

The induction took place at a ceremonial event in Dhanusha, where NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa welcomed her with a traditional khada (shawl).

Addressing the gathering, Sharma described the RSP as “the old Congress” and praised the Nepali Congress for emerging stronger and more unified under the leadership and policies established during its special convention.
