Meeting between the Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Dangael and the delegation of Lhasa city

Kathmandu. A meeting was held between the Deputy Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, and the Director of International Affairs of Lhasa City, China, Jhachinkun.
A meeting was held on Wednesday between the delegation led by Deputy Chief Dangael and Jhachinkun. In the meeting, Deputy Chief Dangael informed that during the global epidemic of covid-19, the health materials and equipment provided by Lhasa city were used in the health care of the public.
He said that the informal relationship between Kathmandu and Lhasa has existed since the beginning of human settlement in Kathmandu. “The aboriginal Newar community used to trade by bringing other goods including gold from Lhasa, when we were in crisis due to the covid-19 epidemic, we were able to work on the health care of the people with the help we received to manage the crisis, thus the benefit of the relationship between the two cities has reached the metropolitan level” – said Deputy Chief Dangel.

In the meeting, the chief administrative officer of the metropolis, Pradeep Pariyar, said that although the language of Kathmandu and Lhasa is different, the spirit is the same. “There is a popular proverb in Nepali, there is gold in Lhasa, my daughter, it shows the prosperity of Lhasa, we have felt that it is as prosperous as this proverb,” he said.

In the meeting, the head of international affairs of Lhasa city said that he wanted to make the time of formal relations more intimate and closer than the time of informal relations. He said that there are unbreakable cultural and social ties between the two cities.

Sisterhood was established between Kathmandu and Lhasa city in September 2011.
