Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – To accelerate progress towards measles rubella and congenital rubella syndrome elimination by 2026, the Family Welfare Division, under the Department of Health Services (DoHS), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), supported by WHO, organized a national workshop to disseminate the root cause analysis of measles outbreak (2022/23) and review progress towards measles-rubella (MR) elimination. Over 130 participants from the Management Division, National Public Health Laboratory, and Epidemiology Disease Control Division, under DOHS, MoHP; Provincial Health Directorate; Provincial Health Logistic Management Center; Provincial Public Health Laboratory; measles outbreak districts; and priority municipalities attended the workshop. After being briefed on MR elimination progress and regional strategies to strengthen routine immunization and surveillance, participants worked on developing provincial action plans (2024-2025) and national MR elimination roadmap (2023-2026).
