The government has decided to accept grant assistance equivalent to USD 2 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the Siddhartha Highway Improvement Project (Butwal–Pokhara).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday, Government Spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal said during a press briefing on Friday.

The cabinet also agreed to remove the ceiling on foreign investment under the automatic route in designated enterprises and businesses.

As per the cabinet’s decision, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr Rajendra Prasad Mishra has been approved to attend the First South Asian Agroforestry and Trees Outside Forest Conference to be held in New Delhi, India, from February 5 to 7.

The meeting also endorsed the Foreign Minister’s visit to Bangladesh last month to attend the funeral of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

In another decision, the cabinet approved the construction of an office building for the Provincial Public Health Laboratory on five ropani of government-owned land in Bhaktapur district, Minister Aryal said.

Similarly, the Water Supply and Sanitation Division Office No. 3 in Sindhupalchowk has been permitted to use one ropani of government land in Kavrepalanchok district.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved the publication of a notice in the Nepal Gazette (Extraordinary Issue) regarding the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, which was endorsed by the House of Representatives on March 11, 2025.
