Between mid-July 2025 and January 14, the Department of Immigration arrested and expelled 333 foreign nationals for illegal activities, including unauthorized marriage bureaus and religious proselytizing. Director Tikaram Dhakal said offenders were fined and barred from re-entering Nepal for specified periods. The Foreign National Management Information System (FNMIS), launched on January 1, now requires hotels and travel agencies to link records to track foreign nationals and enhance security.
