Nepal won 2 awards at the Queen’s World Film Festival

In the 13th edition of the Queen’s World Film Festival- 2024, cinematographer Ravin Acharya from Nepal has won two awards.
He has received the Special Mention (Cinematography) Award from the movie ‘Raton Blood’ and Founder’s Choice Award from the movie ‘Manu’.
In Best Cinematography, Acharya won the award after Marcel Lebenwin’s Coda, Leo Calzani’s Ciella, Scott T Summers’ Miranda of Mind and William Murray’s The Dark Forest.
Before this, the Nepali story film ‘Dying Candle’ shot by Acharya won the best cinematography award at Queen’s World Film Festival-2016.
He entered the Nepali silver screen for the first time as the main assistant cameraman from the movie ‘Vadhshala’, he produced and shot the movie ‘Dying Candle’ under the banner of his own company National Media Production Pvt.
A special exhibition was held at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, which is considered to be the best in the world to teach the genre of ‘Dying Candle’ movies.
Appreciating Acharya’s work, Nepal Movie Bikas Bard presented a letter of congratulation and honor to Acharya who received the Best Cinematographer Award on the occasion of its 16th annual festival.
He won D Cine Diaspora Award-2016, Best Cinematography Fan Film Award-2017, Best Cinematography Kamana Film Award-2017, Best Cinematography INAS Film Award-2017, Jury Award NFDC National Film Award-2017, Best Cinematography Award Singapore South Asian International Film Festival – has been awarded since 2018.
Acharya, who has received many other honors and awards in terms of genre, has filmed Nepali narrative movies Dhulo, KTM Cocktail, Changa, Chakkar, Jayashree Dam and others.
He has also successfully shot the film ‘Dimi-Chi Sono’ (Tell Me Who I Am) produced by the European Films Company Lasraj Pictures and directed by the Italian director Sergio Vaso.
Acharya, who graduated from Oscar College of Film Studies in cinematography, also received the National Special Film Award from President Vidya Bhandari in 2022. He won the award for ‘Tell Me Who I Am (Sarita)’.
Acharya, who has successfully served as an executive member of the Nepal Movie Technicians Association for 3 years, is also an active member of the Nepal Movie Producers Associat.
