The oath-taking ceremony of newly elected members of the National Assembly is scheduled to take place today.

According to Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the ceremony will be held at 2 pm at the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee Hall in Singha Durbar.

Elections were held for 18 seats in the National Assembly that are set to fall vacant on January 25.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal will administer the oath in accordance with Article 86(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Members must attend the ceremony in attire reflecting their identity and bring their National Assembly member certificate along with a citizenship certificate issued by the Election Commission Nepal.

Members wishing to take the oath in their mother tongue other than Nepali must submit the oath text translated into their respective language as per the law.

According to the Election Commission, those elected from Koshi Province are Roshni Meche, Somnath Portel and Sunil Bahadur Thapa.

From Madhesh Province, Rekha Kumari Jha, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna and Mahantha Thakur have been elected.

Similarly, Geeta Devkota and Prem Prasad Dangal have been elected from Bagmati Province; Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province; and Ram Kumari Jhakri, Chandra Bahadur KC and Basudev Ghimire from Lumbini Province.

From Karnali Province, Meena Singh Rakhal and Lalit Jung Shahi have been elected. Likewise, Leela Kumari Bhandari and Khamma Bahadur Khati have been elected from Sudurpaschim Province.
