No talks on Ukraine without Ukraine’s involvement: UK

Brussels – Britain has said that there will be no talks on Ukraine without Ukraine’s involvement. British Defense Minister John Haley, who arrived in Belgium to participate in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defense ministers’ meeting, said that the involvement of the Ukrainian side is mandatory in any talks on Ukraine.
‘There can be no talks on Ukraine without Ukraine,’ she said. Haley’s response came after it was revealed that the US and Russian presidents had a telephone conversation on ending the war in Ukraine.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the talks with his Russian counterpart were very fruitful and agreed to start talks immediately to end the war in Ukraine.

Responding to Trump’s statement, Haley said, ‘NATO’s job is to put Ukraine in the strongest position for any negotiation.’ He says that there will be a new announcement to support Ukraine through NATO.

‘We want lasting peace. “We do not want to return to conflict and aggression,” he said. “Let’s not forget that Russia is a threat beyond Ukraine.”
