The Government’s policies and programs were passed by a majority in the House of Representatives amid the opposition Nepali Congress’s obstruction
Kathmandu. The budget for the next financial year will be announced on June 15th at 1 PM. Speaker Devraj Ghimire called a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament at 1 pm on 15th June to present the budget statement.
Speaker Ghimire has also asked the MPs to arrive at 1:00 a.m. on the day of budget submission. Finance Minister Varshman Pun will submit the budget for the next fiscal year in the joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. There is a constitutional provision to bring the new budget on May 15. The meeting of the House of Representatives has been called at 4 o’clock on the 15th. Meanwhile, the government’s policy and program has also been passed in the House of Representatives meeting today. Amidst the sloganeering of the main opposition Nepali Congress, the government’s policies and programs were passed by a majority.
Today Finance Minister Pune submitted the economic survey of the financial year 080/81 and the annual status review of public institutions while the Congress MPs were shouting slogans at the well of the House of Representatives. Amidst the sloganeering, the Congress MPs who were blocking the path of the Finance Minister were pushed by the ruling UML, Maoist and RSVP MPs to go to Rustam.
RPP MP Swarnim Wagle said the opposition’s protest was shameful and unjustified. Soon after the session of the House of Representatives started, RPP’s chief whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi demanded an investigation into the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane who embezzled the savings of cooperatives. The National Assembly meeting was also held today.
