Kathmandu. The 6th International Cultural Film Festival is going to be held. 142 films have been selected out of 204 films from 47 countries in the film festival which will be organized in the last week of January. 34 movies, short films and documentaries have been selected for the national and 108 movies for the international.
The national movies include Bulaki, Pujaar Sarki, Ek Bhagwat Ek Geeta, Pisht, Pakheta, Desan, Destiny. Similarly, short films of various genres include Ritto Village, The School Wall, Dakini, Direction, Threshold, Information about missing child, Aadekh, Bird’s Dance, Manu, Belly and many other films, short films and documentaries. Based on the evaluation of seven national and international judges, awards will be distributed to the best films of 15 domestic and 15 foreign genres of different genres participating in the Festival.
The organizing team informed that they are organizing an international film festival for the preservation, promotion and development of original art, culture and film. Santosh Subedi, director of the festival, expressed his complaint that the related agencies should organize programs for the preservation and promotion of art, film and culture by themselves, but they did not receive support and assistance from the relevant agencies when the previous film festivals were being held.
He says that this film festival is more important because there are many categories such as best movies, best short films, but also best women’s movies, best children’s movies, best cultural movies, best documentaries and other genres are encouraged. Few films are made in Nepal with themes according to genre, or they are not made. Even if it is made, there is no place to demonstrate it and no organization to encourage it. Even if thematic films become excellent, they do not get a place, they are kept behind in the competition. But he claims that this festival is able to cover everyone. The organizing team said that the festival will be organized in Kathmandu.
