John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, said the US does not seek war with Iran. He said that the soldier’s death case was reprehensible and asked him not to make the same mistake again.
Biden has vowed that the United States will prosecute those responsible for the attack. After Kirby’s comments, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken said they wanted to prevent the conflict from escalating. They said that they are working to prevent the conflict from spreading.
Sabrina Singh, deputy secretary of the Pentagon, said that three American soldiers were killed and more than 40 others were injured in a drone attack on Saturday night that targeted American forces stationed in northeastern Jordan near the border with Syria.
