Kathmandu. As the polling date approaches in the UK, the election is getting exciting. Now politics there is also focused on wooing Hindu voters.
The UK is voting on 4th July. Even though there are 5 crore voters, Hindus will have a big role in this election. It can be inferred from this that only two days ago, Rishi Sunak, the prime ministerial candidate of the Conservative Party in Britain, had reached the Swaminarayan temple with his wife, where he had emphasized the word Hindu.
After the pooja, Sunak said that he was a Hindu and got inspiration from his faith. Sunak also said that he was proud of taking the Bhagavad Gita oath.
At the same time, following in Sunak’s footsteps, the Labor Party’s Keir Starr worshiped at the Swaminarayan Temple in Kingsbury. He praised Swaminarayan and said that there is no place for Hindu phobia in Britain.
According to the 2022 census, there are over one million Hindus living in the UK. In 2011, one and a half percent of the population of Britain were Hindus, and in 2021, this percentage increased to 1.7 percent.
Hinduism is the third largest religion after Christianity and Islam. If media reports are to be believed, the Hindu community has contributed in every field from industrialists to doctors and engineers in the UK. Hindu community is the most dominant community there.
So if Hindus want they can influence the people of other communities to change the election results, according to the census most of the Hindus live in Greater London and the South.
In the other three countries of the United Kingdom (UK), the population of Hindus is less than 50,000. From the beginning of the 19th century, Hindus started settling in United Kingdom.
According to the data till 2015, there are a total of 189 Hindu temples in the UK, while by 2001 there were only 109 temples.
Hindus in Britain believe that there are 423 such organizations that keep Hindus aware of customs and traditions. It is said that the first temple named Radha-Krishna Temple was built in Britain in the 1960s. The largest Hindu temple in the UK is Swaminarayan Temple in London.
Before the elections, the Hindus have released a manifesto about their demands for the new government. This is the first time that British Hindus have prepared a 32-page manifesto. Hindu organizations have said that this manifesto is for politicians of all parties, who want to get their vote.
This draft has been released by an organization called ‘Hindu for Democracy’. Their main demand is to stop the hatred against Hindus and after the incident, the leaders of all the parties are trying to anger the Hindus.
The number of Prime Ministers in Britain is 326, the party that gets the most seats will form the government. Here, there has been a fierce competition between the Conservative Party and the Labor Party for decades.
In Britain, a total of 650 seats are elected by combining several houses, a party with 326 seats gets a majority and can form a government. Here the vote is cast in the ballot box. EVM was never used here. 50 million voters will participate in the UK this year. Voting for the election will start from 7 am and will continue till 11 pm.
Rishi Sunak from the Conservative Party is the face of the Prime Minister, but the leader of the Labor Party Keir Starr is against him. In many opinion polls, the Labor Party is far ahead of Sunak’s Conservative Party.
In the March poll, Sunak was given a rating of 38, which was the worst rating. The Conservative Party is projected to get only 155 seats in the upcoming elections.
It is claimed that the party will get 403 seats under the leadership of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. According to a survey conducted on 18,000 people, the current Prime Minister Sunak’s party will suffer a big defeat.
