University Grants Commission Chair Prof Dr Khadga Bahadur KC takes oath of office

Kathmandu : Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, has administered oath of the office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Chairperson of University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof Dr Khadga Bahadur KC.

Minister Pokharel administered the oath of office to the Chairperson KC at a programme organized at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Meanwhile, Chairperson KC administered oath of office and secrecy to UGC Secretary Prof Dr Roji Shrestha.

After the swearing-in, Minister Pokharel urged the UGC authority to perform keeping enhancement of higher education quality, reforms in the university and restructuring of institutions at the center.

The minister expressed the commitment to provide necessary policy and administrative facilitation from the ministry for the university reforms.

Newly-appointed Chairperson KC also pledged to perform placing policy and structural reforms of the university in priority.

Likewise, Secretary Shrestha said she would exert all-out efforts for university reforms by enhancing further effectiveness of the UGC during her tenure.

It may be noted that the cabinet meeting on Wednesday had decided to appoint Prof Dr KC as Chair and Prof Dr Shrestha as Secretary of the UGC.
