New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has announced a trade deal with India , after having imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods in August 2025. The trade deal announced by Trump on his social media platform Truth Social has several elements, including a substantial reduction in tariffs and claims of India stopping Russian oil purchase.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended gratitude to US President Trump on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India for the announcement of 18% reduction of tariffs in the US on Indian Products. Prime Minister Modi said that President Trump’s leadership is vital for global peace, stability, and prosperity.  India fully supports his efforts for peace. He said he is looking forward to working closely with President Trump to take the bilateral partnership to unprecedented heights.
