US President pardons son convicted of crimes

Kathmandu. US President Joe Biden has formally pardoned his son Hunter Biden, who was convicted in gun and tax related cases. The Office of the President of the United States of America, the White House, issued a statement on Sunday saying that Biden has completely and unconditionally pardoned his son.

President Biden has previously repeatedly stated that he will not use executive authority to pardon and reduce the sentence of his son. Now, he has pardoned the exact opposite.
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to tax fraud last September. Last June, he was convicted of illegally purchasing a gun and using drugs. He became the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of various crimes.
He was scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12 in the gun case and four days after that in the tax case. He could have been sentenced to 17 years on the tax charge and up to 25 years on the firearms charge. However, Biden used his executive authority to pardon his son. Agency
