US Indo-Pacific Commander Admiral John C. Aquilino called on the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today

Kathmandu: US Indo-Pacific Commander Admiral John C. Aquilino called on the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today.
Matters pertaining to Nepal-US relations were discussed. Admiral Aquilino also lauded Nepal’s contribution to the UN peacekeeping mission.

An 18-member military team including General John C Aquilino and his wife has arrived in Nepal. According to the information given by the Nepali Army, they have come to Nepal in their own air force aircraft. The US Air Force call sign SPAR 13 aircraft was carrying 18 military personnel and four crew members, sources said. The team consists of Laura Aquilino, Captain Melvin Smith, Lt Col Norm Renfro, Rich Berry, Jason Mobley, Carl Garman, Andrew Friel, Dr Oliver Lee.

The team also includes captain Kailey Raines, Shannon Smith, David Rodriguez, Garrett Atherley, Daijiro Kanase, David Range, David Isom, Crystal Szymanski and Hamilton Rullan Contessa.

Aquilino will observe the fourth peace effort under the Global Peacekeeping which will be held from Tuesday in Panchkhal. The army of one and a half dozen countries of the world, including Nepal and the United States, are participating in the special military exercise that will be held until March 4. General Aquilino is scheduled to meet with Nepali Army Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma and other senior military officers.

On February 20, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the ‘Fourth Peace Effort’ exercise. During the inauguration, Prime Minister Dahal said that due to the complex conflict caused by various factors of ethnic tension and terrorism in the current world, peacekeeping soldiers are facing danger. Mentioning that peacekeeping operations have evolved into a complex political-military-humanitarian effort, he said that peacekeepers need to understand and prepare more.
