Kathmandu. On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, Nepal Medical College (NMC) has started breastfeeding week. Breastfeeding awareness will be given at Nepal Medical College for one week from today. Doctors say that the baby should be breastfed only for 6 months after birth and should continue breastfeeding until the child is two years old.
College Managing Director Prof. Dr. Jainuddin Ansari said that the program was organized to make the general public aware that breastfeeding is important for both mother and child. At the opening of the World Breastfeeding Week Prof. Dr. Along with Ansari, the hospital director of the college Prof. Dr. Dr. Modnath Marhattha, head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Rita Marahatta, Head of Pediatrics Department. Savina Shrestha, matron Navina Singh, department head, nurses and students were present.
Why should a newborn baby be fed only mother’s milk in the weekly program? What benefits does breastfeeding have on the health of the mother and baby? What are the advantages of not regularly breastfeeding? Information about etc. will be given.
The college has been conducting regular awareness programs on various health days and occasions determined by the World Health Organization. Virganj famous surgeon Prof. Dr. With Jainuddin Ansari taking over the reins of the college, the health services and management of the college have been improved effectively.
