KATHMANDU — The world’s oldest woman, Tomiko Itoka, has died at the age of 116, the city of Asahi announced Saturday. The mayor of the southern city, who had four children and five grandchildren, died in a nursing home in Itoca, the mayor said in a statement.
She was born on May 23, 1908, in the commercial hub of Osaka, near Asahi. Itoka was recognized as the world’s oldest person after Spain’s Maria Branyas Moreira died in August 2024 at the age of 117. Agency
