Voting is continuing enthusiastically and in a largely peaceful environment across the country in the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, with only a few isolated incidents reported.

According to the Election Commission Nepal, reports on voting are still being received from various districts.

Information Officer Suman Ghimire said that voter turnout across the country had reached around 35 to 40 percent by 2 pm.

“By 2 pm, approximately 35 to 40 percent voting has taken place in a peaceful and enthusiastic manner,” Ghimire told Khabarhub. “Details are still coming in from all 77 districts. Based on the data received so far, turnout has not exceeded 40 percent.”

Earlier, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari had said the commission expects around 65 percent voter turnout nationwide.

Ghimire said it is taking time to compile the information as the data must first be reported through the offices of election officers before reaching the commission.

He added that voting is expected to conclude by around 5:30 pm in most districts, except for a few areas.
