China launches energy-saving ‘carbon fiber metro train’
QINGDAO. A carbon fiber metro train named Setrovo 1.0 has started passenger service on Friday in Chengdu, a port city in East China’s Shandong province.
The metro train has a carbon fiber composite body frame. This reduces the weight of body and bogie frame of metro train by 25 percent and 50 percent respectively.
Liu Jinzhu, the chief train designer of CRRC Limited, said that the energy consumption of each train can be reduced by seven percent during operation. This will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 130 tons annually.
In particular, the use of carbon fiber material makes the vehicle stronger. In addition, it increases the stability of its structure. The cabin interior of this train is full of carbon fiber elements.
The train also includes advanced vibration damping and sound isolation, which ensures a smoother ride and a more comfortable experience for passengers. Agency
