In Bangladesh, a concert by rock legend James, popularly known as Nagar Baul, was cancelled last night after violence erupted at Faridpur Zila School during celebrations marking the institution’s 185th anniversary. 25 people were injured in the incident, most of them students.

The concert, scheduled to begin on the school grounds as the concluding event of the two-day anniversary programme, was called off after a group of outsiders allegedly attempted to forcefully enter the venue after being denied access, hurling bricks and stones, which triggered a confrontation with students of Faridpur Zila School. The situation quickly deteriorated, resulting in clashes that injured several students.

Later, organisers announced the cancellation of the concert due to the volatile situation following directives from the Faridpur district administration. Faridpur Zila School, established in 1840, is one of the oldest government schools in the region.
