Kathmandu- Born and raised in Kailali, Bhim Baduwal is a name of hope and trust among the new generation of Nepali politicians. Influenced by B.P. Koirala’s democratic philosophy, socialism, and humanist thought, Baduwal has been actively engaged in politics and social service since his student days. Through active participation in every movement for democracy, democratic values, and people’s rights, he has embraced a politics rooted in struggle, sacrifice, and commitment.
His political journey began in 2050 B.S. (1993 A.D.) while studying at Raghunath Adarsha Secondary School, when he became the Unit Secretary of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU). This journey steadily progressed, and in 2052 B.S. He served as Regional President of NSU Kailali Constituency No. 2, in 2055 B.S. as District Treasurer, and in 2059 B.S. as District President, playing a strong and effective role in organizational building.
Recognized as a powerful orator who raises a strong voice for students’ rights, democratic values, and social justice, Baduwal was elected Co-General Secretary of the NSU Central Committee in 2065 B.S. He has also served as a delegate to the 12th General Convention in 2067 B.S., as well as a delegate to the General Conventions of 2062 and 2068 B.S., and as a member of the General Committee, gaining rich organizational experience and political maturity within the party. Although he faced defeat in the elections for Nepali Congress Kailali District Secretary (2067 B.S.) and District President (2072 B.S.), his ability to take defeat as a lesson and experience, and to move forward with greater responsibility, defines his political character.
Viewing politics not merely as a means to gain power but as a tool for service, Baduwal is equally active in social service. In 2067 B.S., as Chairperson of the Ghodaghodi Rural Electricity Cooperative, he led the expansion of electricity services to around 12,000 households in the former Sadepani, Darakh, Ramshikharjhala, Masuriya, and Udashipur areas, making a historic contribution to creating electricity-accessible, darkness-free communities. This initiative brought positive changes in rural living standards, education, health, and economic activities.
Believing education to be the foundation of social transformation, Baduwal completed his Bachelor’s degree (BA) from Tri-Chandra Campus, Kathmandu; a Master’s degree in Political Science from Tribhuvan University; and an LL.B. from Nepal Law Campus. The integration of theory, practice, and legal knowledge is clearly reflected in his political decisions and social interventions.
Today, Bhim Baduwal is recognized as a leader who stands for clean politics, social justice, inclusive development, and responsible leadership. Closely connected with the society, always present in the joys and sorrows of the people, and guided by a clear vision for the future, his political journey is not aimed at personal elevation—it is dedicated to social transformation and the strengthening of democracy.
