Construction of ‘Digital Thamel’ will be taken forward

Kathmandu. Thamel, the main tourist destination of Kathmandu, the federal capital of the country, is going to be promoted as ‘Digital Thamel’.

On the eve of the election of Thamel Tourism Development Council to be held on June 31, the candidate for the chairmanship, Bhaviswar Sharma, said that he has submitted his candidacy for the chairmanship to advance Thamel digitally in the ‘candidate introduction’ program of the group.

“Though we have solved the problems seen in Thamel in collaboration with the local government, we have prioritized digital Thamel because we could not connect the nationally and internationally known Thamel with the development of technology,” he said.

Chairman Sharma said that after being elected, the first priority is digitalization and the tourism development council is going to collect the data of all the businessmen and house owners through its website to make it easy for domestic and foreign tourists to get the information they need. He said that Thamel will be declared a special tourist area, peace and security will be managed, traffic and garbage management, wire and streetlight management, harmonious relations between housewives and businessmen will be maintained.

Dhubra Adhikari, another candidate for the chairmanship, said that he is going to run to fulfill the positive plans put forward by the previous working committee. He mentioned that for the construction of an orderly Thamel, cooperation between the housewives and businessmen will be carried out. A clean, beautiful and safe Thamel is his resolution, the official said.

In that election, Sahdev (Bimal) Dhamala, Rajeev Pandey, Chetanath Pudasaini and Srikrishna Thapalia have nominated for the post of vice president from both groups, while Badriprasad Timalsina and Sojeshman Malakar have nominated for the post of general secretary. Punyaram Lageju and Dilip (Milan) Kandel have been nominated as secretary, and Prakash Thapalia has been nominated as treasurer.

Election Officer Umadevi who nominated Kopila Sinkhada, Roshan Adhikari, Kumar Nepali, Purna Prasad Chaulagain, Vinod Shrestha, Amrit Thokar (Lama), Sanukaji Maharjan, Ramesh Vishwakarma, Ranjayman Pradhan, Naveen Tamang, Sudarshan Khanal, Janak Singh Tamang, Badriprasad Aryal and Lalbabu Chaudhary as members. Prasai informed. One thousand one hundred and ninety-three people will be able to exercise their right to vote for the 29th general assembly and election of the council.
