Gaza. Hamas has agreed to release 34 hostages in the first phase of a Gaza ceasefire deal. A senior Hamas official has shared a list of 34 hostages with the BBC.
The official said that it had agreed to release 34 hostages in the first phase of a possible deal with Israel. It is not yet clear how many of these hostages are alive.
The names on the list include 10 women and 11 hostages aged between 50 and 85, including some young men, whom Hamas claimed were killed in Israeli air strikes. Hamas said many of the hostages on the list were ill.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that Hamas had not yet provided a list of hostages. Earlier, Israel said that talks on a ceasefire and hostage release agreement had resumed in Qatar.
The announcement comes as Israel has stepped up its attacks on the Gaza Strip, with the ceasefire talks set to resume. The health agency in Gaza said on Sunday that 88 people had been killed in the past 24 hours.
On Sunday, the Israeli military said it had struck more than 100 “terrorist targets” in the Gaza Strip over the past two days, killing “dozens of Hamas terrorists.” Agency
