Kathmandu : The Lumbini-Nepal Mini Marathon is to be held in Thailand on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti 2026.
The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand said that the event is aimed at publicizing the holy birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. The event will be organized in the third week of May 2026. The Mini Marathon events will cover the distances of ten kilometres and five kilometres.
The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand on Sunday organized an interaction programme with the stakeholders in making the event a success.
Representatives of Nepal Airlines Corporation, NRNA Thailand National Coordination Council, People of Nepali Origin Association, Thai-Nepal Association, Thai-Nepal Friendship Association, Nepalis working in the UN bodies in Thailand, some Nepali entrepreneurs and selected entrepreneurs from Thailand attended the meeting.
On the occasion, a decision was made to form the Mini Marathon Organizing Committee comprising representatives of different organizations working for the cause of Nepal-Thailand friendship.
According to the Embassy of Nepal, the event would help promote the birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha, Nepal’s tourism, Nepali cuisine, Nepal’s cultural heritages and the exportable goods.
