Kathmandu : President Ramchandra Paudel has thanked the Election Commission (EC) for conducting the elections in a free, fair, impartial, credible and fearless manner amid a complex situation.

The President said this on Thursday while receiving the Report of House of Representatives (HoR) Elections, 2082 held on March 5, according to the EC.
Submitting the report, the Officiating Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari presented the synopsis of elections results and the major jobs performed on elections management.

As per the election results, a total of 164 candidates of six political parties and an independent candidate won the HoR seats under the first-past-the-post election system.
Likewise, 110 candidates were elected from six political parties under the proportional representation system.

Of the total 275 HoR members, 179 men and 96 women have been elected, the EC stated. Similarly, 21.01 percent of the total MPs are Adibasi/Janajati, 49.09 percent Khas/Arya, 3.27 percent Tharu, 6.18 percent Dalit, 16.73 Madhesi and 3.64 Muslims HoR members were elected from the elections, EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.
