Nepal: Security chiefs brief Prime Minister on election preparations and security

Kathmandu : Prime Minister Sushila Karki sought information from all security agency chiefs on election preparations and the security situation in the country. She invited all security chiefs to Baluwatar this evening to take stock of the situation in the lead up to the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Chief of the Peace and Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Ananda Kafle, Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal and Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki were present on the occasion.

The current security situation, its management, potential challenges and the strategy adopted to address them were also reviewed.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki said that the current situation of election security is satisfactory and instructed the security heads to remain alert and prepared to potential challenges.
