Kathmandu : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted amnesty to 267 Nepali prisoners on the occasion of its National Day, Eid Al Etihad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that the pardon was announced to mark the UAE’s 54th National Day.
The ministry said Nepal has highly appreciated the UAE government’s decision, describing it as a gesture based on humanitarian grounds and friendly bilateral relations. It expressed confidence that the move would further strengthen Nepal–UAE ties.
According to the ministry, the decision was taken in response to repeated requests made by the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, following directives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The pardoned Nepali nationals will be allowed to return home after completing the required legal procedures under UAE law, provided they have no other pending legal cases or restrictions.
