Kathmandu : The CPN (UML) and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) have reached a three-point on power sharing in the provincial governments.

UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ signed an agreement that states that the number of seats each party has in the respective provincial assembly will generally be considered the main basis when forming a provincial government.
It is also mentioned that the post of the Chief Minister and Speaker will also be determined as per the balance of power.

Accordingly, the first ministry will be selected by the party that does not take the post of the Chief Minister and the second ministry will be selected by the party that will get the Chief Minister’s position.

The two parties have stated that the same process will be repeated in turn to distribute all ministries. Since Nepali Congress pulled out from power sharing agreement with the CPN-UML, the NCP has come on board ensuring a coalition government between the two parties in at least four of the seven provinces in the country.
