Kathmandu, June 29: Lyricist, poet, and literary figure Pushpa Khanal has been honoured with the Musickhabar Diaspora Music Samman 2082 during the 13th Musickhabar Music Awards 2082.
According to the organizers, the award recognizes her significant contribution to the preservation, promotion, and international advancement of the Nepali language, literature, and music while living abroad.
Khanal, who began her literary journey in 1998 (B.S. 2055), is currently based in Virginia, USA, where she continues to actively write lyrics, poetry, stories, and other literary works. She has written more than 200 songs, including the popular titles Aama – Maile Pujne Dev, Maya Kebal Maya, Yo Aankhako Pani, Euta Majhi, Jiunai Parcha, Timro Khushi, Pyasi Pyasi, and Piritiko Geet. She is also the author of the lyric collections Pokhiyen Yasari and Gah Pokhiyera, and the music albums Pratishtha and Abhinav.
Khanal has previously received several prestigious awards, including the Jyoti Films Music Award 2079 for Best Lyricist (Lok Pop), the Sagarmatha Music Award 2078 for Best Female Lyricist, the Young Mind Entertainment Award 2076 for Best Lyricist (National Theme), and recognition among the Top 10 in the Pop category at the World Lyricist Award.

Expressing her happiness upon receiving the honour, Khanal said she accepts the recognition as both a vote of confidence in her creative journey and a greater responsibility. She reaffirmed her commitment to remaining actively dedicated to the preservation, development, and global promotion of the Nepali language, literature, and music. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Musickhabar.com, the jury panel, and the entire organizing committee, dedicating the honour to fellow Nepali creators, listeners, readers, and everyone who has supported and inspired her throughout her creative journey.
At the 13th edition of the Musickhabar Music Awards, the Musickhabar Diaspora Music Samman 2082 was presented by the Chief Guest, Rt. Hon. Parmananda Jha, the first Vice President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Representing Pushpa Khanal, actor Shridev Bhattarai, who has appeared in one of her songs, accepted the honor on her behalf.
During the ceremony, veteran composer Shambhujit Baskota was conferred the Musickhabar Lifetime Achievement Award 2082. The event also honored lyricists Unnati Bohara Shila, Bijaya Shivakoti, singers Shiva Pariyar and Kalika Roka Magar, lyricists Purushottam Sanu and Sushila Paudel, media personalities Kuber Giri and Gopikrishna Chapagain, child artist Yunish Ghimire, and singer, composer, and lyricist Dr. Ranjit Jha, among others, for their contributions in various categories.
In addition, awards were presented to the winners in 33 competitive categories at the Musickhabar Music Awards 2082.
