The Nepal Automobiles Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) organized a high-level discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing Nepal’s economy, with a particular focus on education, technical skills and industrial development. Industry leaders highlighted the automobile, information technology and tourism sectors as areas with significant potential for economic growth and job creation. They called for business registration, licensing and tax compliance procedures to be simplified through a centralized single-window system to encourage domestic employment and help reduce youth migration. They also stressed the need for investment in domestic vehicle manufacturing, including supply chains and local spare-parts production, while calling for academic curricula to be updated in line with changing industry requirements.
