AUTUMN OF COLORS

A Poem Composed by Ranjit K Sahu

Announcing the arrival of days cold

Under the rules of nature; leaves turn red

Trembling in the thoughts that they have grown old,

Understand that they will be down and dead

Mortal life means ‘Nothing lasts forever’

Neither glory nor grace, color or charm

Or affluence that one attains with fervor

Forsaking humility causes harm

Colors of forests and colors on trees

Offer a view of what is to come soon

Lighting up rosy dawns and dusks with ease

Ordering gold showers in windy noon

Rejoice in life and its glorious end

Subtly the leaves their last messages send.
