Kathmandu : Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed that the government was prioritizing a robust security arrangement for the upcoming election so that citizens would cast votes in a calm atmosphere.

Home Minister Aryal reiterated it while visiting the Election Commission today to gather information regarding the preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5. He reminded the government’s commitment to taking tough measures against anyone trying to unsettle peace and security.

The Minister also assured that adequate arrangements were put in place for the security of all stakeholders, including voters, political parties, candidates, election employees, and security persons. The ministry is developing a security plan aligning it with the election schedule, he added.

During the meeting, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari expressed gratitude to the government for its collaboration with Election Commission in preparation for the HoR election. He also said the Commission will adopt a firm stance against any elements or activities that violate the Constitution, election-related laws, or the election code of conduct. Bhandari underlined that parties’ digression from code will not be tolerated by the Commission.

The discussion was attended by election commissioners Sagun Shamsher JBR and Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Secretary at Commission Krishna Bahadur Raut, and Secretary at the Home Ministry Rajkumar Shrestha, among others.
