Kathmandu : Nepal’s national football team has slipped two places in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Wednesday evening, dropping to 182nd, the country’s lowest position in the past nine years.
The decline comes as Bangladesh overtakes Nepal to become South Asia’s third-ranked team. Bangladesh climbed three spots to 180th following a 2–2 draw against Nepal in a recent friendly and a remarkable win over India in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Nepal, meanwhile, suffered a 1–0 defeat to Malaysia in the same competition.
Within South Asia, India also saw a significant drop, falling six places to 142nd. The Maldives remain unchanged at 173rd, while Bhutan slipped three places to 192nd. Sri Lanka and Pakistan each dropped one position, ranking 194th and 199th respectively.
Spain continue to lead the global top 10, followed by Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia.
