The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Sandeep Lamichhane as the captain of the Nepali national cricket team.
The CAN has replaced Rohit Paudel and appointed Lamichhane as the captain of the Nepali One Day (ODI) team. The Nepali team led by Lamichhane has been announced by the CAN on Monday for the ACC Men’s Premier Cup to be held in Malaysia.
Along with this, Paudel has also been removed from the captaincy of T20 and ODI. The CAN has already appointed Dipendra Singh Airee as the captain of the T20 squad.
Lamichhane returned to lead the Nepali team in a hiatus four years. He was removed from the captaincy in 2079 BS after being accused of raping a minor.
He was also suspended from the national team at that time. After being acquitted by the court, he returned to the national team. Now, he has been reinstated as the captain of the Nepali cricket team.
Aasif Sheikh, Arjun Kumal, Rohit Paudel, Dev Khanal, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Jora, Bashir Ahmed, Ishan Pandey, Gulsan Jha, Sher Malla, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC and Hemant Thami are in the Nepali team playing ACC Premier Cup.
The ACC Premier Cup will be held in Malaysia from August 30 to September 12.
