Kathmandu – England has entered the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan. England defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the Super 8 match played at the Paleke Stadium in Sri Lanka.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing a target of 165 runs set by Pakistan, England achieved the target with the loss of 8 wickets in 19.1 overs.
Captain Harry Brock played a century in England’s victory. He scored 100 runs in 51 balls with 10 fours and four sixes. Harry Brook’s century led England to victory after openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler returned to the pavilion cheaply. Sam Curran scored 16 and Will Jacks scored 28 runs. Liam Duvall remained unbeaten on 1 run and Jofra Archer on 5 runs.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took the most wickets with 4 wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq took 2 wickets each.
England reached the semi-finals by winning two consecutive matches and collecting 4 points.
